Garage wires tangle at full open position.
Post Body

My torsion spring broke a week ago. I couldn’t find an exact match (250x2x30). I was able to get a 250x2x29 and that’s what I installed. All seemed well when I had the door closed and tightened everything down as well as got the spring tight enough that the door would just stay up on its own in the middle. When I attach the garage opener and it brings it up, the spring loses tension and the drums stop spinning so the wires just tangle. I’ve tried tensioning the cables while the door is up but then the spring has too much tension and the door won’t close more than halfway. I’ve reset everything like 20 times and am going crazy, could it be that the spring being 1 inch shorter is causing this?

Make sure you set the drum on the left side first. When you re do it next time, move the shaft around so the set screws aren’t hitting the same spot. Set the left drum first then the right. Then add correct amount of turns
