I've been quite startled by the near universal trolling in response to my inquires about performance when folks are using their laptops on the go / as a laptop.
As a long time builder (specializing in high performance, near silent operation, and small form factors) that's finally gotten around to getting a gaming laptop, the only reason I grabbed a laptop was to play stuff on the go.
Thus far, it's been a pretty disappointing experience. That's largely in part to the pretty much impossible to find "real world" numbers for gaming while on the go... which is entirely my reason for having a laptop in addition to my primary rendering rig / server and SFF 4k gaming rig.
Yes, I get that most manufacturers don't build systems that can run at full power while on battery (which annoys the fuck out of me), but feel the industry does a massive disservice to end-users by not publishing performance levels while mobile.
Why do people feel the need to troll when others ask how their laptops perform when being used as a laptop? Why are those same folks who claim "lulz yer usig it on battry" even buying laptops over small form factor or standard PCs that offer MUCH more performance per dollar (other than to maybe save space) with generally much higher quality components (for fellow builders, at least)? Why are folks so unwilling to share their performance numbers while on battery (and tweaks they've done to get there) in order for others to make a more informed decision / get better performance or battery life?
