Phone Makes Loud Noise and Restarts?

This is my backup phone and doesn't even have a SIM at the moment. I do use it to play Dream League Soccer. Yesterday I updated to the latest version of the game. Twice, I opened the game, the phone made a loud noise and rebooted. Is the phone rebooting because it's overheating or is it completely crashing? I've read about random reboots but not with the loud noise.

Factory reset is not an option as I have things on this phone I cannot backup. I'm willing to deal with this issue as long as it's safe? Don't want to risk an exploding battery, etc.
