The listener is a captured noblewoman of a nameless house, given to the Sardaukar for breeding purposes as a “gift”. Any children will be raised on the brutal planet Salusa Secundus, and molded into new warriors.

These are brutal, arrogant, heavily indoctrinated men. Despite their intense training, they have also been given many privileges by the Emperor to keep them loyal, which has instilled in them a sense of false superiority and importance. Their leader is closest to the “ideal” Sardaukar of the three. The others are a relatively new recruit and a fanatical priest.

The Cast

Taharmak (TA-har-mak) Captain, fully dedicated to the emperor. Convinced of his men’s invincibility. Deplores needless loss of life.

Azran (AZ-ran) - Chaplain, half-mad priest serving the faith of the Sardaukar. Missing an eye.

Zahine (ZA-heen) - Recruit, descendent of criminals exiled to Salusa Secundas. Wishes to breed and die in order to do penance for his family’s sins.
