Grandma’s 2014 quit working. She parked somewhere. Backed out of the parking space, and Drive wouldn’t engage. The instrument panel and shifter said she had shifted into drive but nothing happened. Same thing happened with reverse.
The transmission shop said it would be $4000 (I’m assuming this quote was for putting a new transmission in).
1- how many miles can you expect out of a transit connect transmission?
2- is $4000 a reasonable price?
p.s…..I did a little reading and I think it’s possible the issue could be a shifter solenoid, but I’m no mechanic so maybe it’s just wishful thinking. Either way this particular shop seems to want to sell her on a new transmission
That sucks. I forget how many miles my grandmas has but it’s probably close to that.
It seems to have gave up all of a sudden.
