I am aware of the spam issues. Just because I do not publicly come out and disclose a ban, does not mean I never ban. I do more than you think. I am also going to start banning people for death threats on me, as well as attacks on me. I never had any issues with spam in the many years these have been up until the pandemic hit. In human nature, nobody can ever please everyone. It's what makes us humans. If you hate a person, then youโre defeated by them. As the group grows I understand curiosity is aroused. We are a growing group and there are growing pains.
This leaves me with a few choices.
- Have members Block these spammers (everyone needs to help with this) The members help on this will be a win win.
- Use an automod but it prevents comments, thus defeating these subreddits.
- Ban first ban 1st and ask questions later, then if you think you were banned in error, you can message me to dispute it. This will increase bans, and
- Continue as is, and trust that I do ban people......Just because I do not announce it, does not mean that I don't ban.
- To cut back is a rule that prevents accounts less than 1 day old to post
- Enforce the title format (m4f #location, etc)
- 30 word requirement for posts. Another way to cut down on spam
- Remove any comment that says "PM me" etc
Keep in mind by implementing these rules, this group will drastically change.
Another idea is send me a master email of the spammers, I can quickly review, and quickly and permanently ban! I personally like the combination of #1 and #4
Please Take the poll to help me with the next step. Keep in mind, this will be permanent and can drastically change this group forever....for better or worse.
