In the Wrestling industry, there are many so called "Greats" ranging from the North American, Australian, and Japanese scenes. However, it's incredibly difficult to parallel Kenny Omega's success as of late, as he currently holds four belts across three individual promotions. An impressive feat indeed, which will possibly never be accomplished again, something that immediately puts a target on The Cleaner's back, but thus far all that have strived to knock him off his throne, have unfortunately failed. After 5 months of being AEW World Champion, it has become quite apparent that he's not looking to slow down anytime soon, and the uncertainty of his dominance being soon questioned... who would be able to end possibly Omega's most imposing run yet?
AEW Double Or Nothing 2021
The undeniable streak of AEW World Champion Kenny Omega has been tested many of times, but this may have been his greatest test to date. With the likes of Jon Moxley, Rey Fenix, and Matt Sydal all being vanquished amidst this dominant title run, two individuals tested their luck this time around, as both Orange Cassidy and PAC earned a shot against The Cleaner in Double Or Nothing's semi-main event. The trio give eachother absolute hell, and whilst the challengers fight with both their heart and soul, the determination of the champion has yet to subside. For the following 25 minutes, the third AEW World Championship reign was in severe jeopardy, as Omega's opposition simply wouldn't let up.
Even with this said, the gears quickly shifted for The Elite's leader. As all of the challenger's hopes to reach the pinnacle of All Elite Wrestling was quickly snatched away in a matter of seconds. As even the Freshly Squeezed superstar is unable to conquer Omega, as an irreversible One Winged Angel leads to an undeniable victory. Shortly after the contest, an attack was suddenly unleashed, joined by the remainder of The Elite, they further began causing damage to Omega's two fallen competitors, attempting to possibly end them off for good. This doesn't come to fruition though, as he is chased off by a 2/3 of The Death Triangle, saving them from any further damage. It seems as Omega's strangle on the company, may be more challenging than he had anticipated...
Build To All Out 2021
AEW Dynamite - June 2nd, 2021
In the fallout of his successful defense at Double Or Nothing, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks are already seen in the ring, looking to address what is next for The Elite. The World Champion starts off, stating that even with the odds stacked up against him like usual, he prevailed as he once promised he would. but that isn't the issue he wished to address tonight. That's reserved for The Death Triangle, who couldn't handle the taste of failure, and instead interfere in his personal affairs, which he promises them won't stand for much longer. While they haven't held a single piece of gold in AEW, Omega is currently wearing three from all separate promotions, so they should try taking notes before intervening in the champion's personal battles. Deciding to not continue further, he hands the microphone to The Bucks, confidence in the duo's eyes, they begin to speak in due time.
With the entire world listening, The World Tag Team Champions state that in battling The Lucha Bros numerous times, there has always been a type of weakness attached to them. Which they can now clarify as simply failure, in the 2 years both of them have been in AEW, one has failed to capture gold during their entire tenure in this company, while the other has strived and been the pinnacle of the tag team division for the past 7 months. However in the middle of their speech, similar to Sunday, they are interrupted by The Death Triangle, with their appearance this time being broadcasted over the titantron. The trio quickly cut off The Young Bucks, beginning to speak about their failure to capture AEW gold is factually evident, but they don't want it to define them, and it won't. Obtaining championships was once their mission, but now it's to bring an end to The Elite, and their deceitful ways, one way or another they will achieve this goal.
AEW Dynamite - June 9th, 2021
After making their intentions clear last week, the entirety of The Death Triangle are interviewed by Alex Abrahantes, who asks them about their sudden urge to bring an end to The Elite, and how soon they plan on bringing this plan to fruition. PAC responds first, saying that at Double or Nothing, The Elite overstepped a boundary. After his match at Double Or Nothing, The Elite, like the cowards they are, unable to face The Bastard man to man, ambushed him from behind pettily, like a gaggle of childish schoolyard bullies. But Death Triangle, man to man, face to face, are no victims. Rather, they victimize. And since the schoolyard bullies want to pick on Death Triangle, they're going to get what they asked for. Destruction. Penta El Zero Miedo would bookend PAC's words by going up to the camera and saying in a hushed but dangerous tone, "Cero Miedo."
Before they can leave the camera's view, in comes none other than The Elite! Matt Jackson would laugh at PAC for calling them "schoolyard bullies," says he wonders if he learned that one in Connecticut. Nick Jackson would pick up from there, saying that they don't make the rules around here. Tony Khan & The EVP's do. That means The Elite calls the shots. And by The Elite's measure, PAC's had his shot, and he failed, so he deserved that beating after his match. Omega would butt in here, saying that "The Bastard" just is nowhere near elite, and everyone has seen that now. But then he'd turn his attention to the Lucha Bros, saying that they entice The Elite. His best friends, the best tag team in the world, The Young Bucks, are still a bit sore in the heart from All Out 2019, when they lost in Escalera de la Muerte for the AAA Tag Team Championships to them. And since The Elite are known for now being a bit fond of belt collecting as it stands, they want that gold. So in two weeks, The Lucha Bros are gifted a match against The Young Bucks, their wish to face The Elite granted, and it's for the AAA World Tag Team Championships.
AEW Dynamite - June 16th, 2021
Following last week's shocking announcement where The Young Bucks were announced to face The Lucha Bros next week on Dynamite for the AAA World Tag Team Championships, the challengers are set up for an exclusive interview with Jim Ross. The subject of the interview being to pick the brains of The Young Bucks before their big clash with The Lucha Bros next week, and to see what the upcoming title contest truly means to them. During the interview, they speak about failing at All Out 2019, and how the inability of recapturing AAA's Tag Titles was sad for them, because they were meant to be building the company from the ground up. Losses should be a rare sight for the standard bearers of the Tag Team Division, but instead they lost in front of the entire world, which made them realize this was their lowest point thus far. This rematch isn't about Lucha Bros revenge story, but instead it's theirs, 2 years has passed by and they are finally ready to seek vengeance. The Young Bucks of 2021 aren't the same duo from 2019, they are far and away the best now, no more slipping up.
AEW Dynamite - June 23rd, 2021
Finally, in the main event, for the second time ever in AEW history the AAA World Tag Team Championships are defended, as champions Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix, The Lucha Bros, defend against men they have bad blood with. The AEW World Tag Team Champions, Matt & Nick Jackson, The Young Bucks. Every time these two teams encounter each other it is a sight to behold, and one can not tear their eyes away from their screens or even blink for a split second or they might miss something never seen before in a wrestling ring. Two of the greatest teams in wrestling history on a free TV main event. It doesn't get much bigger than this.
Lucha Bros (c) vs. The Young Bucks - AAA World Tag Team Championships
Unlike their last encounter, this one starts off rather slowly, with The Young Bucks quickly utilizing their slow-paced offense to their advantage. Attempting to keep their highly agile opposition grounded, this plan works for the time being, keeping the decimation aspect of this contest up for the first half of it. The champions are only able to get sparks of offense, a very unusual scenario they have been placed in, as they are usually on their feet for most of their encounters. Eventually things begin to pick up for them, using both their agility and power to aid in their comeback, able to survive the wrath of The Young Bucks! Even with their sudden offense, it wasn't enough to retain their titles, as Bucks ultimately put Fenix away with multiple skull-crushing BTE Triggers to recapture the gold!
Young Bucks def. Lucha Bros to win the AAA World Tag Team Championships (22:00)
AEW Dynamite - June 30th, 2021
The scene opens backstage, as PAC & Penta El Zero Miedo would be asked by Alex Abrahantes about how they're feeling following Rey Fenix's injury due to the multiple, excessive BTE Triggers The Young Bucks gave him at the end of the AAA World Tag Team Championship match last week. PAC would say that above all they are hoping Fenix makes a speedy recovery and can be back at AEW as soon as possible with them. But slightly under that feeling, is a new resentment and anger for The Elite that is unparalleled in AEW. They put their best friend, Rey Fenix, on the shelf for an indeterminate amount of time because they wanted to. And the golden rule is do unto others as you'd want them to do unto you. So Death Triangle may only have two points now, but they have anger that runs for miles. So next week on Dynamite, Tony Khan has told them that they can face The Elite in a Trios match. And no matter if they have a third partner in crime or not next week, The Elite are going to feel lots and lots of pain next week, that is a promise.
AEW Dynamite - July 7th, 2020
Leading up to tonight's six-man tag main event, 2/3rd's of Death Triangle are still yet to find a tag partner to fill the void. They are soon seen scowering the backstage hallways, talking to numerous talents for the position, but with no genuine answer, there seems to be no hope for them... Once we arrived final contest of the night, The Elite made their entrance first, sporting 6 layers of gold after last week, an imaginable sight to see. Next up, The Death Triangle make their way out from the back, as their opposition begin to snicker at the numbers advantage, but that soon turned into utter shock for all three of them... ITS "HANGMAN" ADAM PAGE, HE'S THE THIRD MAN! Rushing towards the ring, the two trios ensue in a brawl, a personal battle of sorts from all sides, and it truly shows. Once the scuffle had subsided, the bell would finally ring, as the odds have been restored.
PAC, Penta El Zero Miedo, & "Hangman" Adam Page vs. The Elite (Kenny Omega, & The Young Bucks)
With animosity being the clear theme of this matchup, it seemed fitting that Hangman Page and Kenny Omega would start us off, which certainly have Page a good amount of delight. However, his wishes were soon rejected by Omega, tagging in Nick Jackson to take care of his dirty work, as the two finally locked up. The two tugged back-and-forth, with the goal of securing the advantage in this sequence still present, with the younger of the two being able to use his strength, to push his opposition into the nearest corner. The blood is now moving, but so are his legs, as Page comes flying into the corner with a nasty lariat! Falling down to one knee, Jackson looks over to The Elite's leader, Kenny Omega, which Page sees and in reaction kicks his head in! He proceeds to prompt for a tag out, in-which PAC happily accepts, entering the ring with a thirst of danger alongside him, as he almost immediately picks up Jackson, but gets sent packing down to the canvas with a superkick!
With the ball now finally in The Elite's court, they take full advantage of this, of course finally tagging in Kenny Omega. Only when one is down, does he finally enter the prey, well in doing so he goes right after the man he attempted to take out at Double Or Nothing. Now perched in the corner, PAC can barely stand on his two feet, which leaves him in the wake of a severe beating, as Omega repeatedly beats him down, ramming into his side, then proceeding to turn him around, and LAND A DRAGON SUPLEX! 1...2...KICKOUT! A sense of urgency arises in Omega's movements, lifting up his opposition once more, looking to repeat a similar maneuver, but PAC is able to reverse it and LAND A GERMAN SUPLEX OF HIS OWN! From there, Kenny Omega maneuvers over to the corner, in-which Matt Jackson tags himself in, joining the frey or the first time tonight. However, instead of bringing the fight like others have, he lures the rest of The Elite inside, which The Death Triangle does the identical action, as they race towards eachother. The squared circle is absolutely cleansed, taking out everyone in sight, that being except PAC and Matt Jackson, as the latter gets caught with a HUGE BRAINBUSTER! The former now proceeds to ascend up to the top rope, LANDING A BEAUTIFULLY LOOKING BLACK ARROW FOR THE VICTORY, A MODIFIED DEATH TRIANGLE WINS!
PAC, Penta El Zero Miedo, & "Hangman" Adam Page def. The Elite (21:56)
AEW Dynamite - July 21st, 2021
The following week, Hangman Page is seen angrily pacing around the backstage hallways, clearly still irked by last week's altercation with the AEW World Champion. Page continues to pace forward, until he reaches Tony Khan's private office, proceeding to impatiently knock on his door, the action being repeated numerous times until it's eventually fully opened. Upon the door being opened, Page demands an AEW World Championship shot, wanting to finally get his hand on Omega, which is immediately denied. As Khan states that nothing is simply given here in AEW, but rather will have to be earnt, but he will give Page the chance to earn a shot at redemption in the coming weeks, but before he can announce anything further, the pair are interrupted by Team Tazz!
Brian Cage decides to step in-front of the group, stating that Double Or Nothing was nothing other than a fluke, and he won't let Page contend for a title that he should already be next in line for. He brings up the fact that in his time in AEW, he has been one of the most dominant individuals in this company, earning a World Title shot on his first night, while Page has yet to win the "big" one in over 2 years. And once he's done with him in two weeks, he's going to make sure that he never has the opportunity to. However, before Page can accept the challenge, Ricky Starks butts in and states that Cage couldn't get the job done 3 weeks ago, so now it's time for him to step aside, and for him to get the job done. Tension begins to boil for Team Tazz after Stark's statements, but it's cut short as Page accepts the challenge, as a clear target is now on his back.
AEW Dynamite - July 28th, 2021
With one more week until the Page/Starks showdown, Team Tazz are seen speaking to one another backstage, with the overall feeling being displeasure between the trio. However, the tension between them is cut off abruptly, as Dasha Gonzalez is seen moving towards them for an exclusive interview, questioning Ricky Starks on his inability to trust his own stable. In-which he replies, that he has seen first hand how this stable has been going downhill, and it's always due to Cage's unfortunate failures, no matter the opportunity given, he chokes once the chance is there. Double Or Nothing was the last straw for him, and has decided that he needs to step up, and finish off the job that Cage began. With these statements said once again, instead if tensions rising like last week, Cage simply walks off and leaves Starks to fight his own battles in the future, as Page enters the room in the nick of time...
Page starts off by stating that the Team Tazz Empire seems to be crumbling, and it's a beautiful sight to see. However, Starks shouldn't be blaming for Brian Cage for his failures, because he has accomplished one thing he hasn't, beating him one-on-one. But the one thing he made sure of, was to demonstrate his willingness to overcome the adversity, and to claim victory after any unfortunate setbacks. Nevertheless, he isn't going to stand by and let his shot at redemption vanish, so Starks better buckle up and bring his absolute best, because he isn't going to fail another time. The two individuals proceed to get in eachother's faces, until Tazz pulls Starks aside and convinces him to back off until their eventual clash next week.
AEW Dynamite - August 4th, 2021
It's Adam Page's first televised contest since Double Or Nothing, and as he makes it out from the back, he is greeted with a galore of cheers from the AEW faithful. The usually energetic cowboy, is the complete opposite on this occasion, sporting an all too serious tone, as he throws his left arm in the air. On the other side of things, it's Ricky Starks who is only accompanied by Tazz, with a clearly absent Brian Cage. Upon entering the ring, the two individuals continue to stare daggers at one another, until heading back to their individual corners, patiently waiting for the bell to toll, an important matchup for both individuals tonight, especially for one Adam Page!
"Hangman" Adam Page vs. Ricky Starks
In only their second encounter since joining AEW, both of these individuals brought their A-games heading into this one, as the older of the two used his ground-base game to his favor, attempting to keep Page down for the majority of this contest. This strategy seemingly worked for quite some time, even using a FISHERMAN'S SUPLEX to secure the advantage! However, even with his constant undermined tactics and undeniable agility, it still wasn't enough to put away Page, which only made him more frustrated. Nonetheless, with frustration comes doubt, and that was the turning point in this contest, as Starks continued to make irrational decisions leading to his ultimate demise, a BUCKSHOT LARIAT to the chin, as that sealed the deal for Page!
"Hangman" Adam Page def. Ricky Starks (12:45)
AEW Dynamite - August 11th, 2021
After last week's triumphant victory, it's announced that later on in the evening Adam Page and Brian Cage will collide for third time, in a rubber match of sorts. However, before the two individuals make their entrances, tensions are seen rising for Team Tazz once again, as Cage demands for the group to stay in the back, and not interfere in his matchup.
"Hangman" Adam Page vs. Brian Cage III
For the third time in AEW, these two individuals go head-to-head, as they sit at one win each against eachother. That statistic only incentivized these two to keep pushing forward, because a victory here could lead to what both individual's desire at this time - an AEW World Title Shot! The contest started off slowly, as both men tested out the waters, hoping to feel eachother out in the early goings of this one, which immediately worked out in the favor of Brian Cage, as he quickly used his immense strength advantage to his aid. Effortlessly keeping Page grounded, breaking him piece by piece, until there was no sight of a comeback from AEW's #2 ranked superstar! However, there was still glimpses of hope left in the 29 Year Old, as on a few occasions, there was brief moments of offense from Page, not for long though as on every instance Cage ended this hope with his ever-so nasty power.
This continued to be the sight for quite some time, a majority of this contest was Cage's to control. Frustration can always be a man's biggest enemy though, as even after all this damage done to his opposition, he wasn't able to put away Page on multiple occasions, similar to Starks last week. However, he wouldn't give up that easy, knocking Page silly with a LARIAT/F-5 COMBO! 1...2...KICKOUT! Once Page's survival seemed permanent, Cage's frustration became simply too much to handle, no longer able to keep things in control, but not quite snapping just yet... until Team Tazz's arrival by ringside. Not listening to Cage's demand, ends any chance he has at remaining calm, as this momentary distraction leads to his unfortunate demise, as a BUCKSHOT LARIAT SEALS THE DEAL!
Following the match, Adam Page stands tall with a second victory over Brian Cage! Almost immediately following his monumental victory, he is met by Tony Schiavone who already has a microphone in hand. He begins to state that after this most recent victory, Page has ascended up to the #1 Ranked superstar in AEW, however his journey to Kenny Omega's AEW World Championship has yet to be completed. Due to his victory back in July alongside Death Triangle, he will compete in a one-on-one #1 Contendership contest against PAC, with the winner earning a shot at the AEW World title at All Out. These words stun Page, but aswell motivate him to finally rewrite the wrongs of two years ago, and to get his revenge at the same time. However, before he can reply to the groundbreaking news, he is interrupted by none other than PAC!
The Bastard makes his way out from the back, with a sinister laugh added to the mix. Upon entering the arena, he begins to state that the one sole reason they walked out of Great American Bash with the victory, was him. He got the pinfall victory over Matt Jackson, and Adam Page was only there due to circumstance, and he won't let a one time tag team partner ruin all he has worked for, all he has ever wanted is that AEW World Championship, and he promises it won't vanish through his fingertips. Before he can continue his speech though, Page cuts him off, stating that if it wasn't for him, they would have fallen either way, they asked for his help, and that is exactly why he has this opportunity. Two years ago, he wasn't able to get the job done and secure his dream, but he isn't the same individual he was back then, so next week everything comes around full circle and he becomes the AEW #1 Contender.
