Which is more worth it to read/easier to get into? Malazan or Lightbringer?

Two series i’ve been eyeing since i’ve realized how much I love epic fantasy, are Malazan and Lightbringer.

Funnily enough, i’ve heard opposite things about these books. I’ve heard that while Malazan has a slow start that isn’t very engaging, it builds up and has a strong finish. On the other hand, i’ve heard Lightbringer has a great first few books, but a horrible ending.

To those on here that have read both, first, are the above assessments accurate, or exaggerations? Secondly, which, if you had to pick one, would you say is the better epic fantasy series?
