Maybe I'm just a grumpy old man, but I feel like the quality of this sub is slipping.
We have way too many top ten posts, who is your favorite villain posts, and well, blogspam/self promotion. Moreover, "please read/buy my book" posts are on the rise -- /r/fantasywriters is the place for feedback and your own blog is the place to promote your own stuff (if you have to promote on Reddit, why not buy an add?) It also seems like we're getting too many "what should I read next posts" where the OP appears ignorant of the The Big /r/Fantasy Book Thread (don't get me wrong, if you've read a couple of dozen series and want to discover something new, /r/fantasy is exactly where you should be posting, but please be more specific about what you're looking for!)
I'm not sure what we can do, and I do enjoy some of the blog stuff and the sillier posts as well. Maybe we could experiment by allowing text posts only (personally, I like this, except it would hurt some of the hard-working bloggers who deserve traffic -- then again, maybe they could just copy/paste their blog entries and provide a link in the text so we can discover their other stuff & subscribe).
Probably the best thing we can do is vote. If you think something doesn't add to the sub, maybe it's time to downvote instead of politely ignoring it. Yes, I realize you can just hide stuff you don't want to see, but I worry that this sub will become all noise and the quality posters will run away.
Sorry to be grumpy, but I felt the need to say something.
