The Boss is immune to physical damage and kills you when you use black magic - it's as simple as that (yeah...)

First of all I wanna point out that I used a strategy that is very similar to the loved/hated Strategy that I used on Marlboro.

So, If you are familiar with AOE-Kill-reraise-Kill-Strategies and can build your own .... then go ahead and do so. For everyone else that still wants to get some details on how to get this boss down the easiest or at least most possible way, stay with me.

I did 2 Trys on this Boss simply because I missed to evoke an esper on my first kill (duh)

So I figured "why not bulletproof my strategy and record it?" well ... so I did. I tried to make some mistakes and tried to fix them in my second run, which actually works (just think about units dying without reraise left and right, getting units snoozed, eating thresholds left and right ... yeah, stuff like that). I killed the boss and managed to get an esper-evoke in .... Happy-me.

In the end though - My unit choices were poor and not very friendly to people that do not have a TT around, so I thought to go over alternatives that eventually would work even better.

Aside from the similarities to marlboro this boss reminded me a lot of the good old days of the gilgamesh trial, where stabilazation was key, especially when you have units like Trance terra around, that need to survive a turn to actually do reasonable damage. So even if you go balls to the walls rikku-reraise-strategy, you still have to look at your stats to keep your damage dealers alive.

So anyways Basic needs for this trial, universal for every unit is:

  • 5.5k HP
  • 350 SPR

Aside from that, I would recommend to equip Genji shield as well as Safety Bit to your Tank and Healer (AOE-Raiser) to survive the 100% AOE-Death at the phase change (when one Skull of light and one Skull of dark dies)

I personally used these units in this trial:

  • WoL (Def/Spr-Hybrid build) - Mainly for taking any Physical hits

  • 2x Rikku (Build for LB-generation/SPR/HP) her duty was mainly to buff HyperNull and Her LB aside from that I put bushido freedom on one of them, but deemed it useless after some trial and error

  • Ayaka (Heal/MP/Raise) - She would use her 99mp-skill whenever she would not get a lot of damage

  • 2x Trance Terra (MAG/SPR/HP) She just has a ridiculous damage-output in this trial ... obvious choice for me but there are also others that are more than just viable. also I feel like thsi trial is less of a challenge units-wise (if you think about it more closely this could be a dumb thing to say) but rather a equipment and defensive-TMR-Check.

If you can push the SPR of every unit past 380/400 this trial would be even more of a cakewalk but I personally lack the equipment to do that, so I have to resort to the tactics I used.

The probably best Team for this trial would be:

  • Veritas of Earth
  • 2x Rikku
  • Ayaka
  • 2x Trance Terra

for Tanks:

In this Scenatio, Earth Veritas would alternate between Incenerating Press and Omni Block - Especially on threshholds (80,60,40,20%) that you should definitely only cross when he is in his Half-Moon state (look at the icon on the start of every turn the moon takes - after a while it becomes second nature to know what threshhold to cross). Everything else would probably stay the same (Maybe give VoE even more spirit).

If you can actually survive when full-Broken any 100-Provoke Tank or AOE-Tank would do in my opinion.

In terms of support you could go with different options.

If you are very "tanky" you could definitely go for something like crow, Zargabaath, 9s or even Sakura - Anything that reduces Damage would work in combination with either a monstrous buffer like enhanced soleil or a reraise-specialist like Rikku or Rem - a lot would work in the end. You just have to get your defensive stats high enough to survive.

We're getting in the groove now ... Suvival is more important than damage .... so ... lets look at the alternatives in terms of our damage dealers.

I personally would definitely recommend chaining with a friend unit here, as it makes things in terms of equipment and chainability just that much easier. We can also categorize the Damage dealers in terms of their risk-factors:

  • Trance Terra is obviously the most risky one. Not only does she love to push treshholds at unwanted times when you underestimate her damage, she also needs an extra turn to be set up .... which can obviously end in desaster when yor are not careful.
  • Grim Lord Sakura is also an extremely good choice but a very costly one in terms of MP and there are only so many mobs to osmose from - but the damage she does is outstanding and in the end she is totally worth it
  • Ace is a very balanced choice - a good MP-support if needed and extremely good damage when his orange laser procs. His skills do not require many MP and therefor he is open to do something else if the situation requires it a very solid unit in this trial
  • Ashe is in my opinion the safest option, simply because she allows you to leave out your healer most of the time. Aside from that you can get her stats to very good numbers. But sadly she also does the least amount of damage

When it comes to the end phase of the trial you have to get the adds to around 15% when you are using 2x ahes - maybe 30% if you finish with bahamut.

The adds and the boss should die in the same turn, so be prepared for some kill-Lolz

All of the Equipment I used as well as the in-deph (haha) strategy I used can be seen at the end of Try 2 that I'll post as soon as youtube finishes it's stupid upload....

EDIT.:

Try 1 finally finished the upload https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O23GGKPUngM&t=3s

Waiting on part 2

EDIT #2:
