Well ....

I guess it was a rude awakening once everyone managed to get past the 40% treshold to see your team mangled by the thunderstorm this boss unleashes after he just regains 10k MP .... but Hey, Zargabaath to the Rescue!

I only mention the most important bits, as i think that everyone should use the strongest items one has available. The Boss has a little bit of spare room to work in in terms of available abilities but honestly it is really not much.

In contrast to my Marlboro kill guide - I did this without the rikku cheese ... because Whirlwind after AOE-Osmose .... This boss literally pissed me off that much that I wanted to kill him the regular way

To survive in gerneral you need 4 things:

*A unit that can osmose a shitton of MP, preferrably twice per turn *A SPR/DEF - Buff above 50% *some sort of DMG-mitigation *A Cover Tank

To survive after 40% you need: *A shitton of Damage *A shitton of Luck

The units I used were:

  • Warrior of Light - I personally gave him a build with Y'stolas TM because I thought it would be important to raise his SPR as high as possible | Most valuable equipment was mechanical heart - I rarely HAD to heal him

  • Tilith - Stat break immunity up until the osmose-part after that she became my mana-battery

  • Rikku - for all the Things rikku does .... HyperNullAll and her SPR-DEF-buff (interestingly i never needed the re-raise part of her LB)

  • Zargabaath - Literally the most insane Osmose-capability I have ever seen on a unit to be honest ..... I drained his MP in about 2 turns. Also I equipped Pod to him in case I needed my WoL to survive a little bit more than usual

  • Fryevia 1 2 - can honestly be replaced by any chainers with an Imperil-ability attached to them (Orlandu would probably be the best choice here) - though I broke the enemies ATK the first turn with her.

(With Fryevias there is one advantage and one disadvantage ...... Bad news is .... her main dmg-move costs 55 mp instead of the mainstream 45 .... good news is that she has a pretty high SPR-value right out of the box when she is equipped with MAG-items.)

you can see how I pulled off the kill here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwM-ALIN5Mc

to survive the first turn you can either use Zargabaaths osmose-ability 2x osmose-blade from fryevia (or Orlandu Equivalent) break the ATK of the enemy and use a pod with a different Char or just break the ATK with one of your DMG-Chars and use the pod-shield ability with Zargabaath.

After that it is more or less just keeping buffs up and damaging through:

  • Be careful to keep ATK-break and The light is with us up at ALL times
  • Next on the priority list is your Rikku ... keep her HyperNullAll and her LB up at all times
  • Next is the Osmose ... keep the enemy MP always at it's lowest possible Point (if you have Zargabbath - equip him with ATK and SPR)
  • Keep an Eye on your MP and try to fit recovery items in with your osmose unit ONLY when he does not have to Osmose
  • Defend with your Tank when The light is with us is up and ATK/MAG is broken (usually 1 turn in the rotation)
  • After 40% it IS more important to do DMG because it is literally a race against the clock

Units can be interchanged with a couple of Alternatives

  • WoL: Charlotte or VoE
  • Tilith: Sadly only Ayaka could do the job otherwise
  • Rikku: Probably can't be replaced (though I hear some brave souls managed it with Zargabaath or 9s for Mitigation)
  • Zargabaath: can be replaced by enhanced Soleil IF you have other means of Osmose
  • Fryevia: Definitley a bad choice but it works ... can be replaced by Orlandu, Tidus, etc ... basically any strong chainer as long as they have some sort of imperil

It is really not a great encounter because RNG can fuck you up pretty bad especially after 40%. But in the end encountering such a beast is a test of endurance and planning. Please do it better than me, because I struggled quite a bit to be honest.

Anyway have fun with the encounter ... look for the challenge (even if it's often decided by RNG) and Kill that bastard!
