Our 3 month old sometimes seems to choke — I think inhales — milk while he’s paced feeding from a bottle. He gets quite sleepy during bedtime feeds and also sometimes is eating while trying to fart and that’s when I’ve noticed the choking.
I feel like milk can’t block his airway for long enough but it’s scary. The nipple is a transition one so speed of flow isn’t the issue here.
Has anyone else experienced this? What can I do or how should I handle it when he seems like he can’t catch his breath?
My LO is in the NICU and has o2 drops sometimes with feedings because he gets choked up and all the good nurses do what they call rescues to help the milk get to his stomach and that’s to get LO in a burp position since he’s a NICU baby we can’t feed any other way then side lying incline so for us it supporting his chin belly down and just patting his back like we are burping him but with a little more force then when actually burping him. If he’s rescued quickly enough there isn’t even a drop o2
