Oval Cut ring setting

Having some trouble in my research and understanding how secure 4 prong setting can be with/without stabilising bar.
The jeweller mentioned putting in a simple bar around the prong (like the picture attached) but… doesn’t that make it a basket??
If anyone has experience with a ring in the prongs let me know?
