Returning player - how/where to start with guardians & thargoids

Hey guys
Been xbox player since day 1. Have 100's if not 1000's of hours logged, but I always hit a wall and get bored and leave for a few weeks/months
Just dusted off mostly thrustmaster hotas and started playing again. Mainly void opal mining
I never really got into the whole thargoid narrative, haven't done anything with guardians. Never even been to a guardian site
Is it even worth the grind for the modules and weapons, and if so where do I start
Seen a few vids and it's a little overwhelming tbh
