So, I've recently decided that I'd like to get my first Electric scooter and as a result, have been lurking here a bit. Seems like every day I come across something new that seems to be "the one," only to do a bit more research and not be so sure. Here's the basics on what I'm looking for:
I'm about 245 lbs and I want something very portable, lightweight, with a detachable battery and tires that won't puncture. I'm only currently planning on using it for trips around 5 miles both ways with no major inclines and am not concerned about going insanely fast (thinking 10-15 mph is gonna be fine).
Price range isn't a major factor, but for what I'm using it for, I'm hoping to keep it under $1k.
I've read and watched a lot of reviews for the Dynamic Model B and while I get that it's not going to be a "top of the line" model, for what I'm looking for, it seems like it would be alright for a first scooter. The only "issues" I've seen are that some have been waiting for some time after ordering and there doesn't seem to be a phone number to contact for customer service (though to be fair, this doesn't seem to be the only company I've researched without a phone number).
FWIW, these are the other scooters I've looked at closely and notes about each:
Levy Light - The first scooter that came up when looking for a removable battery. Almost $80 to upgrade to solid tires and it appears as if I'd have to change them out myself. Not really looking to taking it apart before using it the first time.
TurboAnt X7 Max - Seems fine, a bit heavier, but the solid tire upgrade is cheaper and seems to be done when ordering, as opposed to me having to do it. Admittedly, a big reason I'm second-guessing this one is the fact I've seen a lot of "STAY AWAY FROM TURBOANT" posts from here, lol
Fluid Mosquito - Seems fine, haven't seen many complaints, but no removable battery and a $900 price tag are a bit of a hangup for me. The battery thing is a "me" thing, as I always seem to have issues with anything where you can't swap out the battery. I also know I said "under $1k" and this fits that, but at the same time, for what I'm looking to do with it, I could almost buy two of the Dynamic Model B scooters with a spare battery for each for the same price as one Mosquito.
So, based on what I'm planning to use it for, what say you? Would the Dynamic Model B do what I want for at least a year, where I may (or may not) want to get an upgrade? If I have issues, how much trouble is it to contact any of these companies to get a quick resolution? Am I looking too much into the forum ripping the TurboAnt, or is it justified? Is there something out there that would fit my wants and needs better that I've completely missed?
