I'm blessed with a wonderful 11 month old female BorderPoo (Border Collie x Min Poodle mix). I can honestly say that I can't ask for a better dog she's obedient, receptive to training, respectful and just a lovely nature dog. I got her when she was a puppy and from day one trained her to be who she is and I'm proud of how far she's gotten.
However I constantly get people saying stuff like "She's so good because of her breed, she's obedient because you got her as a puppy or simply excusing their dog behaviour because of their breeds (hunting, guarding etc.)". I honestly don't care what people say as at the end of the day that's their opinion and everyones entitled to one.
But I wanted to find out your opinion on thease topics, in your personal experience how much does the dog breed actually affect their obedience and training ability ? Do you think every dog is trainable and it's just a matter of human knowledge and willingness to train ? How quickly can you change a rescue dog bad habits and should you try to brake them from day one or is there a benefit of allowing them to settle in (let's say 1 year) before starting obedience training ?
