Alright. So.
I have an online group. I'd like this group to last and not fall apart, maybe even play more campaigns after this one, since it's a lot easier when you know each other, as there's chemistry.
I am pretty happy with most players, except one. I don't really know how to best handle this, so that's why I'm asking.
So, for one, it kind of seems like he just... shows up and that's it. I'm not expecting you to answer me within an hour, or anything. One day, two day response periods are totally fine. But he just kinda... responds when he feels like it, which often just... isn't.
It's not like I talk that much either, I usually just ask party/player related questions to help make sure the campaign is enjoyable, sometimes I talk about things they'd like to do and all. If they aren't big talkers, i largely leave em alone with out of campaign stuff.
But he largely just doesn't even answer basic questions. From my past experiences? Not a good sign. Especially in online campaigns good communication is key.
That aside they have by far the least involvement in anything. They only really RP sometimes, staying completely silent most of the game. And no, I get being shy or new to it. But... this isn't a result of either.
And I think given the other players are newer it doesn't really help the situation. And no, I am not saying it's on him to carry. But it often seems to me like he doesn't really... fit. And there are plenty of RP concerns that the other players have mentioned, but when one character adressed it, they didn't even get an answer from him. Like, the others tried, but he? Don't think he said a single word for a whole 15 minutes.
I just don't think it's helping the party dynamic and I fear that it's not good for the longevity of the party. He's been rather flaky already, and when I try to talk to him about his opinions on aspects of the game I don't really get an answer either.
I know this is long, but last time I tried this I got hounded for not just talking to them. I AM talking to them, but it's really hard when the main guy barely answers and you're trying not to be rude as hell. When every question you ask takes a week or more to get answered, it's hard to make progress.
The others have noticed the problems that arise from the RP problem discrepancy, such as asking why he's hanging around the other characters. Which... never got answered. Like, literally silence. I realize that not everyone needs to be big on RP, but I am just wondering if he fits the party and if it may drag down the game as a whole, since it sometimes feels like we are down one player, combat aside. (Given he shows up, as he has missed the most sessions by far, though he at least has given some excuses after the fact, though I'd prefer before, I also realize sometimes you can't)
