My and friends joined a large group campaign that typically has multiple DMs running multiple campaigns all in the same setting. These campaigns often interact with each other or deal with the fallout of the decisions made by other players the week prior.
Me and my friends were on our initial campaign where we were sent to stop some small time cult from bringing back an ancient god. At this time the rest of the parties were about 2-3 months into their own campaign so we were separated until our characters were on the same level as other parties. At the end of the quest though some bad rolls landed us in some hot water and the dark god reached out to save us at the offer of us giving him our souls in servitude. Not sure if the DM planes for this but… we all accepted.
The next week we signed up for an escort mission but the DM that allowed us to turn evil gave us secret instructions that we are actually supposed to kidnap the citizens we were moving along and take them back to be sacrificed to our dark lord. I’m not sure if this was communicated to the other DM because when we finally announced our true intentions he became pretty tense and had to scramble to adjust the campaign. There were also two other players in the party that didn’t like this move but initially but we “bought” their players compliance with some gold and soon they were also on board.
Now here comes the issue. This week we come in and our party is being told that multiple campaigns are not allowing “evil” parties and that we need to roll new characters again to play with this DMs. The DM that let us go evil in the first place is now chaperoning some new players and we told we’re too powerful to play with them.
