There is a lot of talk around PvE vs PvP when it comes to sandbox changes within Destiny 2, rightfully so, but I feel with the announcement of armor 2.0 we need a bigger break down on what this new system will provide.
Currently in the game these are the clear meta/sandbox changes that are not talked about. (Again just from my perspective and why Iām asking these questions)
Gambit: Red bar vs Orange bar vs Yellow bar enemies. These enemy types have a health/damage stat not only based on the Gambit game mode itself but also changes depending on your fire team. For example, more enemy types of a āharder caliberā if you have a clan base 4 stack team vs just match making with randoms. I understand that this game mode has different rules for balancing purposes but what will 2.0 armor look like in this game mode? Maybe the 2.0 Gambit/Gambit Prime armor will have mod options for this game mode?
Normal Strikes vs Nightfall Strikes vs Special Nightfall Strikes (The Corrupted): Iām not going into too much detail with each of these game modes, but the question is, if I have my custom built armor 2.0 set fully charged will I be equally powerful in all these modes? Will I just be powerful in Normal Strikes (meaning my stats matter) then what happens when using the same armor 2.0 set in a Nightfall? Will I see a decrease? (meaning gear stats donāt really matter, the rules of the Nightfall over run everything.) Iām not upset for a difficulty spike I mean thatās the whole point, Iām just asking will we get beefier enemies and still deal incredible damage or will our perks be changed on the backend?
Patrols vs Escalation Protocol vs Blind Well vs Reckoning: Again you can see the pattern in this post each game mode has its own set of āmeta/sandbox rulesā. One thing that bothered me across these game modes is that when playing a warlock the well of radiance in Blind Well would keep you alive no matter what, but in the Reckoning (the encounter with the knights for example) you could die instantly regardless of the well. So the question again....what are the rules for the armor 2.0 going to be in these events?
