XPS 15 9530 Issue with Replacement Battery

Post Body

The original battery on my 9530 went bad a week ago (swelling so much the trackpad had popped out of the frame). I ordered a replacement from Ebay because I saw that Dell did not sell them directly anymore. I bought what looked like an OEM one (had a Dell sticker on it), but when I installed it, I got the infamous "your battery has experienced a permanent failure) message on boot.

So did I get scammed and get a bad battery or is there some trick I need to pull to get the system to recognize it?
