I entered a monthly gym membership I was sent to collections cause the card was cancelled and we tried cancelling the membership but they kept charging me.
Now they sent an email through a law firm and I went in person to ask how I can pay and they said that they could write it off by starting a new membership and it would cost me less.
Is it true that they can even write off the debt even when I’m in collections.
Should I follow through and get the membership if it means paying less or is that some sort of trick or scam?
The amount I owe is 259 but they charged me twice so it’s actually 173, and the price for the new membership would be 94 or 96 and that’s also with the next month and me cancelling ahead of time.
