When is the show set? How old are the Elders?

Sorry if this has already been asked somewhere but I really dig this show, and after watching a lot of episodes I've come to see if anyone has this answer. I see Bernard has a very modern looking cellphone but then I guess I need to question how old the Elders are.

Barry asks in one episode if Craig and JP have ever seen or heard of Dexter's Lab or KND and they both answer no. I know that JP is in middle school and Craig is (going?) into 5th grade, so how old are the Elders then? 16 or 17?

I like to believe it's set in the 2010s, but does anyone have any firmer answers?
