How do you guys tolerate being on the road all the time?

Hey all, in my late 20’s and in my last year of my apprenticeship. Currently working away from home and it’s starting to really get to me. I’m close enough to being done my apprenticeship that I’m going to see it through but the travel is enough for me to want to quit. I spent the first 1.5 years of this job on the road and now I’ve been put back out of town. I thought maybe once I put some time in it might change.

How the hell do some of you guys do it? I absolutely hate it. I have nobody to stay with, so I end up spending my entire per diem on hotels and food, I never see my fiancée, i spend my weekend packing, meal prepping to save money, trying to figure things out at home before I leave again. I bring my golf clubs and try to get out and make the most of it, try and get to the gym but I’m miserable, it’s really bringing me down. The trade itself I enjoy, but the travel is killing me. At this point I’m willing to take a significant pay cut just to work local and be home. Not a chance in the world I would do this with a family. Curious as to how some of you make it work! Have a good weekend yall!

How did you shower? I can't imagine going a day without a shower when doing construction.

Did you have a mattress in the back? How did you sleep?
