Best medium for pitch black background?

Post Body

What's up everyone. I am fairly new to coloring things. I generally just do line drawings and that's about it. So, I've got a Strathmore 400 series 18x24" paper pad and I've got this idea for a Godzilla drawing, but a region of the background will be pitch black. I have Ohuhu markers, which is what I'll be using for Godzilla, but I have colored pencils, charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, gouache paints, or Sharpies that I can use for the pitch black portion. I am willing to do my own tests on a separate sheet, but I figured I might as well ask first if anyone has suggestions for which one might work best for a smooth pitch black portion of the background that doesn't look like it belongs to a different illustration.

Thanks in advance!
