Advice on buying tickets?

I'm hoping to get tickets for Chicago tomorrow (and yes, I do have a presale code). However, I won't be around to buy the tickets, so I'm having someone else buy them for me, and he asked me how he should do it. I don't have a ton of experience buying tickets online, either, so I figured I'd ask here:

What is your best advice on how to buy tickets for a Coldplay show? (Should he use a computer or an iPad? How early does he need to log on? How do you assure you're in right at the correct time to get the best tickets? Where are the best seats?)
