I lent my friend some books and a backpack over the summer. He himself is not a smoker but his roommate is. The books have a slight cigarette smell to them and the backpack has a much stronger smell. For now, I put the books in a trash bag with some baking soda and tied it up for now. The backpack is getting the same treatment in a separate bag and I plan to wash it.
When I was bringing it inside my house, there is a mild cigarette smell just in the foyer despite me not putting the bag down anywhere. I used a bit of febreeze and opened the door to ventilate.
I just want some advice about more that I should do and if I did anything wrong. Iām more concerned about the books.
Edit:
Nobody in my home smokes. Not even a neighbor smokes. The only smoking related thing in the house are these books and bag.
