Jock recommendation needed...

Hello everyone, I know this is mostly a porn sub, but I'm a student MA athlete looking for recommendations for my first jockstrap. I like the vintage style but was wondering if they are the same as in function as a regular athletic jock, so that I can wear it to compete. If so, please leave any recommendations for me. I want something with a snug fit that comes in a size small, with or without a cup pocket.
