Background

DevilDeathOnline, BlastedSpell, and Matan2002 stand accused of petty griefing, theft, and the murder of an SPQR Magistrate on June 30, 2019 while in the Roman territory of Gallia.

Offenses

For Tresspasing in the Gallia Minor station after being confronted:

Table VI: Trespassing (entering land or property without permission) 3rd degree: Class 2 Not leaving SPQR territory after being asked to.

For raiding the station and griefing the drop:

Table VII:Theft and Destruction of Property (including block placement) 2nd degree: Class 4 Intentionally causing the destruction, damage, or loss of items/animals at a value of 99 diamonds or less. Breaking and entering private SPQR non public buildings or areas Illegal builds on SPQR land claims

For taking Posternoser's gear:

Table VII:Theft and Destruction of Property (including block placement) 1st degree: Class 5 Intentionally causing the destruction, damage, or loss of items or animals with a value of 100 diamonds or more.

For murdering and pearling Posternoser, Consul:

Punishments

Each of the accused is potentially sentenced to end time for an indefinite period of time to be judged in accordance with the severity of the crimes:

Class 6: At least 45 days in the end with review every 30 days beyond the 45 days for parole of the imprisoned.

Class 5: 30-45 days of end time.

Class 4: Up to 30 days in the end.

Class 2: Confiscation of carried property when pearled.

Evidence

• Class A Evidence: The Peal of Posternoser

• 4 counts of Class B evidence: the recovery of Posternoser's named gear, and other stolen items from the inventories of the accused after their pearling as witnessed by Invictus, BorisToddbringer, Mark_Antony, and Posternoser.

• 1 count of Class B evidence: Posternoser being at the station while it was being griefed.

• 2 counts of class A evidence: The confessions of Matan and BlastedSpell

The Case

A period of roughly 12 hours has elapsed since the public announcement of pearling of the accused and no substantial accusations have been brought forward with claims against them, thus there is no argument for expedition to another jurisdiction and the trial will be held in the SPQR.

The accused entered SPQR lands together and attacked Posternoser once, killing him, then killed him a second time and pearled him when he showed up to their raid on the Gallia Minor rail station at roughly -8355, -4995. After pearling him they remained in the area until reinforcements showed up to pearl the accused who were found to be manifestly guilty of the crimes presented with the recovery of stolen items. Thankfully all stolen items were recovered and the cost of operations was minimal.

Upon interrogation of the accused it has been determined that the accounts are not alts and are merely newfriends with just a few days on the server. While their actions can be written off as innocent inasmuch as they are unfamiliar with the expectations of the server, the severity of their crimes cannot be overlooked, and the potential loss to the SPQR would have been substantial if not for the timely arrival of reinforcements.

Verdict

As the accused have plead guilty in the hope for leniency and have been relatively cooperative with their captors throughout the investigation it is the states position that the harshest sentences will be withheld.

It is determined to be worth noting that the accused had no way of knowing Posternoser was an SPQR Magistrate, he did not announce himself as such therefore the murder charge is being downgraded to that of a class 5 offense, equivalent with the murder and pearling of any citizen and carrying a lighter sentence of 31-45 days.

Furthermore the entirety of the class 5 punishment for the theft of 99 diamonds or greater in wealth from Posternoser's person is being waived entirely since the items were recovered soon after they were lost and returned to Posternoser.

The maximum possible end-time sentence remaining being a full 75 days, but the state has determined this number to to be excessive considering the newness of the players and their ignorance to the rule of law and server norms as well as taking into consideration any loot recovered for their base as reparations.... the time for griefing the rail station is determined to be paid for in reparations forcefully recovered from the possessions of the accused.

The remaining charge of class 5 murder will carry the minimal sentence of 31 days to be shared by all 3 accused.

Sentencing

Matan2002 will spend a total of 10 days pearled and be freed on or around July 10 and will remain forever banished from SPQR lands until further notice.
