My parents planted this tree well over 10 years ago and we’ve never known what it is or how to use the fruit? Or even when it’s actually ripe haha. Any idea what it is?

If it is, then it is the same species as Buddhas Hand and the skin and pith can be used to make candy, which by the way are top 👌
