You don’t get into heaven.
”“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’“ Matthew 7:21-23 ESV
I guess Jesus wasn’t joking when he said “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.“ Matthew 7:13-14 ESV
This has been something I been struggling with. Trying to find True Christianity. You have so many denominations that obviously they are the wide gate. No where in the Bible does it command us to observe Christmas or Easter which were derived from paganism. Yet many Churches celebrate these holidays. Enter Jehovah’s Witness or Seventh-Day Adventist who don’t celebrate those holidays and claim to be the true Church. Those that get sucked in believe in a Jesus. What Jesus do you believe in? Catholic Jesus? Pentecostal Jesus? Baptist Jesus? Methodist or maybe even Lutheran Jesus.
Then enters Hebrew Roots Movement claiming they are right?
I’m not sure if I’m a Christian. Mostly likely ot because my life has no fruits showing otherwise. The question I’m asking myself is it better not being Christian and knowing you are going to hell than to believe you are a Christian spend 50-65 years going to Church, reading the Bible, giving to Charity, trying to be “Christ-like” only to die and be told by Jesus after you say,” But Lord Lord, didnt I do this this and this in your name?”
Because reading/studying the Bible it appears a real Christian is one who has genuine remorse and is in utter horror of his sins and his standing with God leading to greivance and having a real fear of the lord which is the beginning of wisdom. This leads to confessing your sins to God, genuinely repenting and then being baptized and theoretically you’re supposed to be infused with the Holy Spirit making you born again, a new Creature and not your old self. From that is the fruits of the holy spirit and living a life in keeping with that repentance.
Because many Christians i meet are the sane ol people they were before they became “Christians” they were told if you say you put your faith in Jesus and pray this quick sinners prayer then tada you’re saved. Even if you live like the rest of the world.
This is a real struggle because Mentally I know the bible says I am an abomination to God and deserving of his wrath. I know the Bible says Jesus is the way the truth the life. But emotionally and even mentally I have no remorse or even fear of God. Why? I don’t know.
Is it because in my mind somewhere I think he doesn’t exist? Just another story like the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus?
Because if Hell does exist, anyone in their right mind wouldn’t want to go there. But maybe I’ve done something like past no return which is why I cant be saved? Which is why I have the proverbial hardened heart? But i want to believe, I want to understand but last thing I want is to think I finally believe, get plugged into a denomination then when I die God says HA! No entry! Sorry buddy you took the wide road.
Then it makes me wonder. If Jesus was real…if Christianity was real? But when the Apostles died…the Roman Catholic Church sprung up infusing roman paganism with supposed Christianity leaving no chain of succession from the Apostles. According to the Bible the Catholic Church is so far removed from Christianity that it would make no sense for God to allow that?
Because keep in mind…the entire world had the Roman Catholic Church religion until Martin Luther sprung up with a dialed/toned down version of the Catholic Church then later on various denominations started popping up as soon as people started reading the Bible in their own language.
If the Roman Catholic Church is false…and they were the ones to determine what was canon then how can we trust the 66 books put together by a false religion? So what is True Christianity and where is this narrow path?
