I'm a Chili's server (5 weeks into this job right now) in Michigan and my hourly pay is $3.65
I truly appreciate the food runners & bussers, they make my job easier and make it easy to flip more tables faster and be more attentive to customers to drive up those survey percentages. BUT...
I'm wondering what the hourly pay wage is for a food runner and a busser..? Because they get a hefty chunk of my money for tip outs (Runner gets 4% and Bartender gets 1% (of my TOTAL TIPPABLE SALES) and I'll be honest, some tables tip me less than 10% and some leave no tip at all! Mostly older people like to skip out on tips or just the flat out cheap asses. I'm not saying it's undeserved, but if they are making as much or more hourly, and receiving 4% from every server on the clock, that's making bank and I'm watching my charged tips almost cut in half. They don't account for the lowball tippers and the no tippers that us servers have to take up the rear end. And then taking a large chunk of the good tips we DO make.
Just trying to figure this out. Thanks!
