What do you want Jesus to be for you?
Post Body

Hello,

Happy Palm Sunday and such, I am a recent inquirer in Christ and at the moment I am aware fully of my belief in God; yet, I am searching for more information and the theology of Christianity as a whole. Today at church the pastor asked three questions. Who is Jesus? Who do you need him to be? and lastly, what do you want Jesus to be for you? The sermon was focused on the last question, and I am having a lot of struggles with it. I do not even know where to begin with my answer. My first reaction is that the question is selfish, maybe even impious, as He has provided all that is needed and asking for more combined with the concepting of wanting Him to do something doesn't sit right with me. I understand him to be my guide and leader, yet I can't help feeling that the question is asking for too much. He did all he needed for me to succeed already and it's up to me to listen to His guidance. I would appreciate if someone could help guide me to a better understanding of the question through a different outlook so I may begin to answer it for myself. Thank you.

TLTR: What do you want Jesus to be for you? Needed guidance in answer.
