Good day,
Just wanted your opinions/advice. I have a 2014 Chevy Traverse. Both rotors and pads were replaced yesterday, brand new - Duralast rotors and premium pads. I bought the parts and took it to a mechanic who replaced front and rears.
Fast forward to today, when driving and slowing down the steering wheel shakes, it doesn’t just shimmy lightly, it shakes where you need to have both hands on the wheel. Eventually when the speed falls below 15 mph the shaking stops and the car will come to a complete stop. There’s no pulsation or grinding in the brake pedal it feels smooth when braking.
Now prior to this, a week ago I took the car to the dealer for an oil change, the dealership did their inspection and pointed out suspension concerns. Front control arms bushings and ball joints had play but weren’t broken. Recommended that I replace them. I said thank you for the advice.
I brought the report to the mechanic when I brought it in for brakes and asked him his opinion which he confirmed they should be replaced.
My question is what else could it be that would be causing the shaking? I also took the car to Discount Tire and had the wheels balanced and rotated this morning to rule out a bad tire or maybe a lost weight hoping it would solve the problem. It did not.
Any advice would be appreciated. I dropped the vehicle back off and the mechanic ordered replacement driver and passenger side control arms I’m just anticipating this not fixing the issue.
