I have a 2015 Impala that has been an excellent car. 72k miles and aside from wear and tear items, nothing has gone wrong with it. Well, until now.
I usually listen to bluetooth in my car from my phone, its always worked fine.
But lately I'll just be sitting there listening, even stopped at a light, and it'll just freeze up and the music stops..
During this time, the AC still works, all the stuff behind the steering wheel works, its just that screen.
I tried holding down Home FFWD for 10 seconds and that didn't do it. I was hoping for a software reboot as a workaround. Only fix is to kill the car for a few minutes, and once it powers off and I start the car again it works fine, for a while. I tried to push the onstar button (not a subscriber), and heard nothing, but got an email today that I contacted them.
Here is a pic of it in the frozen state. Notice the clock in the top right is gone, and the 5 buttons at the bottom switched to a disabled looking state. No button works on this screen.
I will say a few times over the years the radio has skipped when playing bluetooth if I hit a really hard bump, but it never froze up. This seems to be happening more often now, and even 5 minutes into my drive I can be pretty assured that it won't make it. I have switched to radio from bluetooth and it seems to have helped, drove around an hour today and it worked the whole time, including the buffer.
Again, the car in every other way seems to work fine when this happens, I just lose BT music, and can't push buttons anymore.
I was hoping somebody had seen this before and had a resolution. I am pretty far away from the dealer and it'd eat up a whole day to go there and have them look at it.
Thanks!
