I have a shed that I'm looking to convert into a backyard office. There's currently a door on there that's in real bad shape and needs to be upgraded. Since the interior of the shed is completely unfinished I'm able to see all the framing.
Currently the RO is only 79.5" tall. Finding a door that's short enough is a struggle so I'm wanting to just raise the header. The concern though is there's no cripples. It's three 2x4s on top of each other, one for the header, and two for the top plate.
How can I adjust this to allow for a 80" tall door? The door we found that we want recommends a rough opening of 82 1/8". Any way I can just take out the bottom half of the top plate?
