First sale presumably lost in post despite tracking - what to do?

Post Body

Hi, I made my first sale on cardmarket and posted the card on 30th November. As I was a new seller and the card was worth Ā£40, the trustee service was used. I sent the card tracked with signed for second class delivery.

For context both I and the buyer are in the UK, where there is currently mail strikes and delays, especially for letters, so I expected the letter to take potentially over 2 weeks to arrive. But after 2 weeks I was worried it wouldnā€™t be delivered so I made a claim with Royal Mail to investigate where the letter was.

Iā€™ve just received a letter today from Royal Mail saying they investigated and ā€œlet me down on this occasionā€ and enclosed a cheque to cover the cost of what I sent. Does this confirm that what I posted has been lost in post, or is it just probable?

I donā€™t know where to go from here on cardmarket, as I am an inexperienced seller. Should I contact the seller, and ask them to refund or cancel the shipment? As it stands I believe cardmarket is holding their money as it is a trustee service sale. Or should I wait a little longer, as what do I do if the buyer still receives the letter?

Also Iā€™m worried what to do if I get bad feedback from the buyer, as this is my first sale and currently have no reviews. Many thanks
