Sup guys! I need a âradio doctorâ if you will, to help me figure out whatâs going on with my system. I have a 97â k1500 suburban and every speaker but tweets and one front side were blown. Iâve been restoring this truck on a TIGHT budget over the last 3 years and iâve got a lot in her. I started on the inside going with a system first and decided to just replace whatâs blown with a stock equivalent so I could have SOMETHING to hear out of. I can provide rms and specs for all the speakers if needed, but they were the cheapest âqualityâ speakers I could get from Walmart. Hereâs the problem. I was bumping with the fronts and back backs replaced and then I got the rears and front tweets done. For a day the entire system was good but the next day my friend pointed out that the back doors werenât playing audio. I had a DSX-A415BT I got years ago laying around and decided to wire it in. The audio was 10000x better quality than the stock system and was that much louder. I blew the front speakers pushing too much gain testing it out. I replaced the fronts and showed my friends the system and the rear doors were out again. Wierd, but after messing with all the connections and harness, I threw the stock stereo back in to show off the full speaker setup. That day while driving the audio started going all out of whack acting like a connection was bad. I troubleshooted everything i could, rewiring all the speakers and itâs the same issue on both stereos, except the stock stereo now plays all speakers while the aftermarket sony only plays fronts and back backs. What could be causing this? An audio friend of mine suggested that itâs a power issue and the speakers could be drawing way too much power. I currently have 2 pairs of tweets and a pair of 4x9âs in the front, 6x9 for the back doors and a pair of 6x9 built in a box that I wired in the back seat. Could these replacements draw more power than the stock and aftermarket unit to where i need an amp to run things? Thanks a bunch!
Speakers : 2 PA NB-18 Sony XS-R4646 Sony XS-R6946 The rear âroofsâ are rebuilt kenwood D691 with titanium coils in single ported boxes.
Iâm trying to get this issue figured out before i invest in a 1250rms 12 or 15 inch sub with a homemade bandpass box. If i have to invest in a good amp i will as long as i can get that quality bump from my system.
