I have no knowledge of what career paths are typical in the Canadian Forces, but I recently came across a news story about a 43-year-old Candian Forces member, with almost 20 years of service and two tours in Afghanistan - but with a rank of corporal. Can you serve this long without promotion? Or would you figure that higher rank must have come and gone for this individual?
(If you make the connection and know who I'm talking about, I would ask that you not mention the corporal's name, because this question could be seen as disrespectful.)
