Currently writing a spec script, and was looking for ways to world-build within the LA gang scene. I was curious how gang names are generally formed, and based on that was hoping to put together gangs for different parts of the city / different ethnic groups. For example with Latin gangs, I tend to see 13 represented a lot with a neighborhood whereas with black gangs I see a lot of street numbers with a set name after. Was also curious about any Korean or Chinese gangs that operate either within K-town / China town or east in the Arcadia / surrounding areas.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is absolutely perfect - what I was looking for exactly. Thank you!!
Anyone who’s given help will def get a credit.
Definitely saw Sur on a couple of tags, which I always thought was funny because it would make me think of sur la table (the store and the South Park episode).
Bronson and Carlton. One block down from that Philips gas station.
This is amazing. Thank you. Definitely helping me put together some ideas.
The location is Los Angeles itself. Trying to base some things off of existing sets but looking to make fake ones that sound real enough and pass a basic level of realism.
When i lived in East Hollywood on Bronson there was a clique that had a trap house right across from our building. Could’ve been a set hangout too with the amount of people that would show up. Saw lots of 13 tagging around the area which made me think it was MS-13 affiliated.
