Has anyone here dealt with figuring out this code on their CX-5? My 2014 only has 61,000 miles on it and this code popped up on my wife the other day when she was leaving the store.
No other codes associated with it.
My wife also didn't experience any issue ls while driving prior or after it popped on. She said it came on as soon as she started the car. Wasn't on prior.
It seems that plugs and coils tend to be the usual suspect. That being said, my plugs are under the change interval by around 14,000 miles according to the 75,000 mile interval stated in the owners manual.
I also have a very smooth running engine at idle and while accelerating.
So after looking for vacuum leaks and such (not finding any) and coupled with the smooth running engine, I decided to clear the code in the hopes that if it pops back on, it will be associated with a more direct code.
I am also going to pull the plugs and coils, inspect and test them, and replace as necessary. The problem is that if a cylinder is misfiring directly, it should have given me a P0301, P0302, P0303, or P0304 along with the P0300. Which is why I'm not hopeful of this being the actual problem, but who knows?!?
I also hooked up my scanner after resetting the code and it wasn't detecting any cylinder misfires while idling or under load. Which again, makes me believe that the plugs and coils may be fine.
I did also find a TSB from Mazda that states the coils they used from 2013-2016 could trigger a P0300 code if the car is subjected to a large change in ambient temperature. And just recently we went from a couple days near 60 degrees then all of a sudden, into the 20's at night. So maybe it is a coil issue?
I just want to know if anyone here has dealt with this and what the solution ended up being in case it's not a simple plug/coil situation.
