Hello fellow CBD marketers! I currently am the marketing manager for a small CBD brand, and over the past 18 months we have seen a massive decline in sales / new customers. It's causing me so much anxiety and frustration. I fell like a major failure.
I have been in this role for just about two years. I haven't changed any major facet of this companies' marketing plan, I have simply stepped in and taken over the controls from the previous manager. We gain customers via SEO, CBD ad networks, affiliates and email marketing.
We offer a simple and basic assortment of products (Oil, Balm, Softgels, Gummies) but we do not grow or cultivate our products. We source from a USA supplier. We also don't offer any derivatives or Delta products. We have a pretty basic catalog.
The company was founded because the owner developed a condition that CBD helped her through. She decided to turn her passion into a business.
At one point before I came onboard they were doing quite well. That success came primarily from a YouTube influencer who was awesome. Unfortunately YouTube changed their policies and made it not possible for him to promote CBD anymore. YouTube threatened to shut his channel down completely if he kept making videos.
I am well aware that my abilities, or lack their of, is probably a huge factor. This is my first experience in the CBD business, but not in a marketing manager role.
All that said, what other changes have happened in this market over the past 2 years that could also be adding to our decline? I've heard a lot of theories, but I thought maybe someone in here has some deeper insight.
Thank you for the help!
