Holy shit I did a thing
Post Body

I have not only conquered the seemingly insurmountable W5D3, but for the very first time in my life, I ran AN ENTIRE MILE WITHOUT STOPPING. Scratch that...I did the 20 min jog at 5 mph, so I actually ran 1.6 miles without stopping. HOLY FRIGGIN HELL.

I am very excited about this. Although I have never been overweight I've always been one of those skinny-fat kids...awkward, unathletic, unable to walk up flights of stairs without wheezing. So I feel really good about this accomplishment. This was by far the hardest day. I've been using a heart-rate monitor when I run and one thing I've noticed is that about halfway through the run my heartrate is into "zone 5" (anaerobic, too high to be doing me much good) and I can't get it to climb back down unless I walk. No amount of slowing a jog can decrease it once it starts getting up there. So today was extra hard to keep running...the last five minutes were hell and my hr climbed into zone 6 for the first time. So I'm glad that the next workout won't be a 20 min straight run again, but I DO feel really, really good knowing that I can now do this. It's a huge motivator to keep pushing forward. I know I won't actually be able to run a 5K at the end of wk 8 at the pace I run (at least, not in the 30 min time frame) but after today I feel really confident that I can work my way up there eventually.
