Locally foraged bow-drill kit including Lantana hearth board
Post Body

I’m particularly interested in using invasive species for Bushcraft - they’re in ample supply and often beneficial if cut/removed. Recently I thought I’d try a lantana hearth board for friction fire, and it works well! May try a lantana spindle as well now…

The above kit includes a eucalypt branch bow with paracord (I have used banana cordage successfully, but with how much practice this needs the banana broke too often), grass tree spindle, lantana hearth board and an oiled hip bone (?) handle

Not terribly rare with some eucalypts, but yes seemed right for the job :)

Oh yea thank you, that does make sense actually!

Thank you, someone else suggested the same - I’ll have to make myself a new bow - glad to hear it could be easier!
