As a theme camp organizer, we had a lot of revelations this year about who really added to our camp and who consumed our camp without really contributing (or negatively contributed). We're going forward with some new non-negotiables for future camp mates, as well as cutting the people who might be fun sometimes, but truly are more work than they're worth.
I personally think a big problem in the whole of Burning Man was the friction between those who to work hard and in part find connection and magic through working hard together to build something and those who just come to consume the magic without really putting in the work. For whatever reason, in past years, it was easier to make allowances for those who put in minimal work, but this year? No, no more sparkle ponies, no more half-sparkle ponies even.
