I am an American Christian. A friend passed away recently. His life partner is a Korean woman who came to the US decades ago. She has Buddhas around her house, but according to her daughter, she is not particularly religious. I've been invited to a "casual" 49th day ceremony this evening. They have no relatives and few friends in this area. I don't know what to wear, bring, or expect, and what are the polite things to do/say. Will dinner be served? Should I bring food, flowers or something else? Any guidance is much appreciated. Thank you.
