Is it just me or am I the only one who thinks The Game Kitchenā¦ a mere indie devs made an iconic weapon. I generally call it the Guilty Sword because itās easier to say and since itās made of pure guilt. though in Latin it means āThrough My Faultā which definitely makes it perfect for it be weld by the penitent, one. Iām surprised a version of Mea Culpa made itās way in Elden Ring in the form of āthe Blasphemous Bladeā OP weapon for Faith, Str builds and I loved the reference and you better bet I used it.
Looking at other indie games the only other weapon I can think of like Mea Culpa that is the pure nail from Hollow Knight. Though itās a stretch to say itās iconic. Blasphemous isnāt even my favorite game but itās definitely one the best Iāve played.
Iām sad Mea Culpa wonāt be in the second game, but I hope the new weapons are just as good and memorable.
It's a cool weapon, but I don't think it rises to the level of iconic. Thorn motifs are pretty old and this is just an iteration on that and while the design isn't generic, it's recognizable due to the details, whereas really iconic weapons in popular culture (like the aforementioned nail from Hollow Knight) are instantly recognizable.
I don't think the Blasphemous Blade is a reference, just a coincidence. Like, whenever FromSoft does references to popular culture, it's very blatant.
