“Spill the Tea” really has two means which came from Gay Slang. Southern White Women would gather at tea parties to gossip so gays took that and created “spill the tea” as in “tell the gossip.”
The other “What’s the real T?” Has been changed to “What’s T?” Because the T stands for Truth, so if you were around friends gossiping and someone said
“My car is in the shop.” And later someone asks”What’s really the T=Truth?!”
Meaning “Did that bitches car get repod?!”
And THATS the T!!
