What happened to Hat from Gorgoroth?

I'm just now understanding the brilliance that is early Gorgoroth and vocals are just incredible, done by none other than "Hat" who vanished from the black metal scene in 1995. What happened?

Just found this but I’ve actually met him twice in Bergen. Very quiet and calm guy. Easy to talk to.
