Protective Styles for Transitioning to Natural Hair?
Post Body

Hi all! New to the sub, and writing on behalf of my mom :)

My mom has 4a/4b hair that she's worn relaxed for the past ~20 years. Her hair is pretty thin & fragile, but I'm not sure if that's her natural hair type, or if it's fragile because of the relaxer. She's been slowly using a texturizer over the past few years, and is now thinking about transitioning back to her natural hair, but she's concerned about her hair looking "presentable" during the transition.

Her stylist feels that most protective styles (she was thinking about goddess braids) would cause breakage because her hair is so fragile, but I feel like there must be other options for protective styles. I was thinking faux locs or wigs, but I don't know what else. Any thoughts on gentle protective styles for my mom???
