The FF horror is one of my favourite genres, I think because it deviates from traditional movies so it's a bit of a refreshing change. In an ideal world, we'd have a big budget R-rated Bioshock movie but I doubt that will ever happen (and Hollywood vg movies are often poor)
Anyway, I recently replayed and re-fell-in-love with Bioshock (1 & 2) and have had this idea about how you could potentially circumvent the set design problems through a Found Footage movie. Given that a lot of FF movies are in the dark or with night/thermal vision, you could hide a multitude of sins with this technique.
The vision I had in my head was of people returning to a barely-functioning rapture years later (90's or even 2020s assuming canon allows the place to survive for that long) in an effort to recover some of the tech or riches that was left behind.
I'm sure someone else has had this idea, but I'd be curious to read any scripts that people have composed for their Bioshock movie ideas! Rapture is the most captivating in-game world for any game series ever in my opinion. I just want more of it every time I play the first two games!
A couple of ideas I had in my head:
- Rapture was classified by the US Government, its existence is only rumoured so a wealthy dude and some of his staff go and find it and gain access
- Rapture is known by the outside world and controlled by Andrew Ryan's granddaughter, who runs "extreme" tourism for a limited few numbers of people who can afford to visit Rapture and visit the Museum of Rapture which has things like (working) Eve Hypos on display and a group of friends manager to get tickets and "breaks away" from the tour group and goes into sploysur territory
